Homeopaths in the West believe that Indian homeopaths are taught to memorize the Materia Medica.

What is your comment?

“Materia Medica cannot be memorized. We teach Materia Medica to our on live patients in the Out Patient Department so that they understand the application of the drug symptoms (as given in the books). Materia Medica has to be understood rather than memorized. ”

- Dr. Neeraj O. Goel, Professor and Head of Materia Medica Dept., CMP Homoeopathic Medical College, Bombay, India

“I TOTALLY DISAGREE. It is impossible to memorize the Materia Medica. It is only because you understand the drugs at all levels that you can remember them and not by mechanical memorization.”

- Dr. S. K. Goel, Principal of CMP Homoeopathic Medical College, Bombay; formerly A.M.O. Govt. Homoeopathic Hospital, Bombay and Deputy Director- Homoeopathy, Govt. of Maharashtra

 “Completely false.”

- Dr. Farokh J. Master, M.D. (Hom.) Hon. Homoeopath- Mumbadevi Homoeopathic Hospital, Bombay Hospital; Member Central Council of Homoeopathy, Govt. of India; Internationally renowned teacher and author of several books

“I do not think that is the impression. What they feel is that our knowledge of Materia Medica is definitely better than theirs.”

- Dr. K. P. Muzumdar, Chairman of the Homoeopathic Pharmacopoeia Committee, Govt. of India; Member of the Scientific Advisory Committee, Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy; the Central Council of Homoeopathy and the Governing Body of the National Institute of Homoeopathy, Govt. of India. Former Director of the National Institute of Homoeopathy, and the Central Research Institute, Govt. of India; former Head of Dept. of Pharmacy at CMP Homoeopathic Medical College, Bombay

“Western homeopaths see half the number of cases in a day. Many patients have functional problems, so they give a lot of symptoms and the interview works therapeutically and patients get better. About facts, we do have to remember certain facts so that one can give the right medicine. Mind and body have to match for a correct prescription. Ultimately, you must have factual base for prescription.”

-Dr. Jawahar J. Shah, Developer of the homoeopathic software ‘Hompath’; Member- Central Council of Homoeopathy, Govt. of India; Internationally renowned teacher
